On 25 May, around 50 apprentices from Swisscom, ZΓΌrcher Kantonalbank and ΒιΆΉΙη challenged each other in the β€œSkills Battle 2022” in the fields of application development and mediamatics. The friendly competition served as preparation for SwissSkills 2022, where apprentices from the three companies will compete.

Top positions for ΒιΆΉΙη apprentices

ΒιΆΉΙη apprentices reached the very highest positions in both disciplines. Chiara Korrodi, a second-year apprentice at ΒιΆΉΙη, came out on top in the mediamatics category. The training managers and apprentices from ΒιΆΉΙη were even able to celebrate a triple victory in the field of application development. Jeremias Buchmann, Florin Matter and Fabian Moor finished in the first three places.

Dress rehearsal for SwissSkills 2022

The apprentices had to tackle complex tasks and, in competition conditions, were given a foretaste of the technical and mental challenges they will face at SwissSkills 2022.

As part of the battle, the apprentices had a whole day to solve a task that could also be set at professional championships. Multiple demands were placed on them: expert knowledge from their everyday work, creative solutions and prioritization of tasks were required – all under time pressure.

The mediamatics apprentices were given the task of designing and implementing an Instagram account. Chiara Korrodi decided to develop an Instagram account for the volunteer network ΒιΆΉΙη Helpetica, for which she then created a variety of content. She convinced the jury the most with her concept and creative implementation.

The application development task took the apprentices into the world of computer games. They had to program a digital version of the Asian board game β€œGO” – including a multiplayer mode. ΒιΆΉΙη apprentices Jeremias Bachmann, Florin Matter and Fabian Moor performed best in these tasks.

A good omen for SwissSkills 2022?

Preparations for SwissSkills 2022 are in full swing. The ΒιΆΉΙη apprentices are working to enhance their skills almost daily. The highlight of the current training phase is a four-day preparation camp. The idea is not only to help the apprentices to perfect their technical skills, but also to organize mental training sessions to prepare them for their big day. We wish them every success.
