- Half the world's population lacks access to essential health services. And over half of this population lives on the African continent.1 What's more, community health systems suffer from a $4.4 billion funding gap 鈥 every year.2
- Currently, donor funding mainly goes to disease-specific programs that are costlier and less efficient than integrated healthcare programs. Governments also face big political and financial barriers to delivering robust community health systems.
- To overcome these issues, Financing Alliance for Health delivers impactful financing solutions. This African-led partnership and technical advisory fund empowers governments, donors and the private sector to strengthen, scale and sustain community health systems. So far, the organization has helped secure more than $200 million for at-scale community health systems.
- Financing Alliance for Health embeds teams regionally and globally, generating evidence, securing finance and advocating solutions. The team implements global best practice locally, for example, in its initiative. FAH work collaboratively with many partners including the Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC), Community Health Acceleration Partnership (CHAP) and Last Mile Health (LMH).
- Financing Alliance for Health's CEO, Dr. Angela Gichaga, is a public and social sector expert, executive coach, and human capital and leadership development advisor. Angela has served as a frontline clinician, health administrator, policy maker, academic and consultant.
- Angela is a passionate advocate for high-quality healthcare and gender equality. For example, she runs her tailor-made聽Pathway to Parity聽programme to empower women and young people in the workplace and society.
