Experience the visionary worlds of the contemporary icon
Step into the mesmerizing world of Yayoi Kusama as the Fondation Beyeler presents Switzerland鈥檚 first ever museum retrospective of the iconic Japanese artist鈥檚 boundary-breaking art 鈥 now in its final weeks.
On view until 25 January 2026, the exhibition is organized in close collaboration with Kusama and her studio and surveys more than seven decades of her practice 鈥 from early works in 1950s Japan to her most celebrated pieces today. The show is an essential encounter with one of contemporary art鈥檚 defining voices.

Exceptional in scope and ambition, the presentation showcases more than 300 works tracing Kusama鈥檚 continuous reinvention across media 鈥 painting, sculpture, performance, film, fashion, and literature 鈥 with over 130 works appearing in Europe for the first time.
Experience iconic series such as the Infinity Nets and Accumulations alongside landmark installations including Narcissus Garden (1966/2025) and a brand-new Infinity Mirror Room created especially for the show. Taking over ten galleries and extending into the museum鈥檚 garden, the exhibition immerses audiences in Kusama鈥檚 iconic polka dots, mirrors, and recursive forms 鈥 art that is felt as much as it is seen.
The Infinity Mirror Rooms 鈥 one inside the museum and another installed in the park 鈥 invite viewers into Kusama鈥檚 signature, reflective environments, where perception opens outward to 鈥渋nfinity.鈥 These intimate, time-based encounters underscore why her work remains both culturally resonant and universally accessible.
The exhibition鈥檚 significance is further underlined by its European tour to Museum Ludwig in Cologne and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam after its premiere in Riehen/Basel.
